| South Park
History:
South Park is an animated television series which makes kids all around the world laugh. The concept was first thought of when two Comedy Central employees saw the potential from two animated short TV shows which were also released by Comedy Central. The two workers were Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The show takes place in Colorado Town, where four young boys go about random adventures. Parker and Stone had created the two animated shorts which South Park was based upon, and these shorts were entitled Jesus vs. Frosty, and The Spirit of Christmas. With these videos being such hits, and eventually becoming viral on the web, the two friends had decided to continue their success, and make another short going off of Jesus vs. Frosty. Being a sequal of this, it was similarly named as Jesus vs. Santa. When this video became even more popular than the last, of course they knew they had an oppurtunity of fame and success sitting in their laps. Taking advantage of this oppurtunity, they'd expanded their concept of these animated shorts, with which came about the comedy series of South Park. With the knowledge that they wouldn't be able to do it alone, they began to recruit staff to assist them in the production of it. Once a small team was gathered, they spent three months creating the first episode, also known as the Pilot episode. The Pilot episode was released on August 13th of 1997. From this, five more episodes were launched basically as tests to see what results they would get. At first, the audience, paticularly the female portion of it, hadn't been in favor of the series. However, with it's continuous and massive hit it had become both online, and on television, that reason alone was not enough for them to cancel the project. Throughout its years, South Park has been nominated for various awards, and has grown in popularity in the young audiences. Some find this ironic when knowing that the series was originally intended for adult audiences only.
Cast:
The four children of which the series mainly follows are named Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick. The intention of Stan was to portray the average American kid. Kyle is the one who was intented to be known as how the Jews' personality is known. Parker and Stone had created these two characters to reflect how they are with each other. So basically, Parker is Stan, and Stone is Kyle. Eric was created to show an obnoxious asshole who everyone wishes would just shut the hell up. Finally, Kenny, who was made to show the average poor child, with a shy personality. However these four kids aren't the only people shown. To attend to the comedy side of the show, there are various guest stars such as Jay Leno, Robert Smith, Korn, Radiohead, George Clooney, etc. This is commonly found hilarious, as it shows what these well-known celebrities would look like as animations. But one thing which many people don't known, is that the show's creators, Parker and Stone, voice almost all male characters in the show. They are the backbone of the whole series, and without them, the show would most likely die within months. The female characters were hosted by Mary Kay Bergman for the initial two years of the show, however after that amount of time, she had committed suicide. To take her place were two new women named Mona Marshall and Eliza Schneider. After the show's seventh season, Eliza was replaced by April Stewart, who had became partners with Mona Marshall. When Parker and Stone are unable to voice the characters during the show's production, various other people who take their place temporarily.
