The Instructions

1. Open up a new image that's 350 x 20. (Some people prefer 350 x 19 or 350 x 18.)

2. Now select your gradient tool. Set the foreground and background to colors that match the picture that you are planing to use. (I'm using #0048dc and #61d1ff) Set the gradient to "FG to BG".

3. Now drag the gradient across the userbar. Hold Ctrl to get a straight line. You can also drag it up or down instead of across. See what looks better on yours.

4. Make a new layer and add scanlines (Click Here if you dont know how to make scanlines).

5. Lower the opacity of the scanlines down to about 35.

6. Make a new layer and grab you elliptical selection tool. Create a selection over the top half of the userbar.

7. Fill the selection with white using the bucket tool and tone the opacity down to 40.

8. Pick an image. I chose this one:

9. Copy the picture, and then go to Edit > Paste As > New Layer. Now drag the image to the right side of the image (you can resize it if needed).

10. Now create a new layer for our text. Use size 10 with the Visitor TT1 BRK font (download it Here) Move it around until it looks good.

11. Right click on your text layer and press Alpha To Selection. Now create a new layer underneath your text layer, and call it "Outline".

12. Next, go to Select > Grow and grow the selection by 1 pixel. Then fill it with black using the bucket tool.

13. Create a new layer and press ctrl+a to select everything. Go to, Edit > Stroke Selection and use these settings (make sure that black is your foreground color):

14. Save your image as both an .xcf (so that you can edit it later) and .png (to upload to sites such as PhotoBucket and such) and you're done!
