| Even though so many of you think religion is stupid and won't even read this....
Three years ago this week, the Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland decided he was going to close 1/3 of the churches in his area. (About 60/180). The main reason for this decision was to cut costs. Mind you that the Diocese was HUGE at that point in time (180 churches? think about it). It included two of the biggest state cities, which are 40 miles apart. On a personal note, the church I attended every week for my whole life was closed November of that 2009, along with so many other churches whose attendance was of less importance than how much money it cost to run them... Mine totally isn't the worst, I've gone by other closed churches without a thing inside them, or the windows boarded up...
Now, it wasn't until much more recently that it was announced that the Vatican was going to investigate the big decision by Bishop Lennon (Lenin?). Miraculously, news broke earlier this week that the Vatican is going to overturn his decision of closing many of the churches that appealed. This is the first time in 150 years that they have done such an action, overturning a bishop's decision. Yeah he'll probably get fired and stuff. (He was the priest he official last mass of every church, and many of them required him to have a police escort down the aisle so no one attacked him...)
What really influenced the Vatican's decision was their unannounced trip to Northeast Ohio, to one of the churches that were closed. when they got there, a large congregation of the remaining building with a fence around it, gathered for a prayer service. They had been doing this every Sunday morning for 2.5 straight years. |

| Read it all, and that is amazing. Shows the strength of Christians to stand up for what they believe and want.
Say what you want, but I guarantee any other cause outside of religion would not have compelled these people to gather like that for 2.5 years straight. |

| That is cool. People would rage here if the churches were closed. |

Ok, yeah, maybe a couple hundred diehards are there every Sunday for years, but this was in rain, snow, sleet, hail, thunderstorms, you name it. |

| My town has about 4 Catholic churches, 2 of them nearly have to be closed because of poor attendance. But that is pretty amazing. |

It's not the same 40,000 people, and if it is, you're all insane. |
