Overview
Level: Estimated Completion Time: 15-20 minutes
What We Are Making
The Instructions
1. Open up a new image that's 420x150.
2. Paste your render on the canvas. I used this one:
Your image should look like this:
3. Take your render and paste it all over the white background. (Make sure they are all on one layer.)
4. Go to Filters>Noise>Pick and choose these settings:
It should look like:
5. Duplicate this layer, and go to Filters>Artistic>Gimpressionist. Choose the Furry preset and click Apply, then click OK. You should get something like this:
6. Now duplicate this layer, and go to Filters>Distorts>IWarp. Play around with the swirl and move tools until get something like this:
7. Duplicate this layer, and then go to Filters>Edge-Detect>Edge. Run it at these settings:
It should look like this:
8. Use the Pick layer that we have at the bottom. Duplicate it, and bring the duplicated layer to the top. Go to Filters>Artistic>Gimpressionist. Choose the Painted Rock preset and click Apply, then click OK. Run the filter to get this:
9. Duplicate the bottom Pick layer again and bring the duplicated layer to the top again. Go to Filters>Artistic>Cubism, and click Ok when the window comes up. After that filter is done, go to Filters>Artistic>Gimpressionist again, and choose the Dotify preset. Click Apply and then Ok to get this:
10. Duplicate the bottom Pick layer again, and bring the duplicated layer to the top again. Go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur. Use these settings:
It should now look like this:
11. Duplicate the bottom Pick layer again, and bring the duplicated layer to the top again. This time, don't do ANYTHING to it.
12. It's now time to pull everything together for the background. Follow directions closely for the settings on the layers (moving up from the bottom):
- Spoiler:
Bottom Pick layer: Normal; 100% opacity First Gimpressionist layer (Furry): Normal; 100% opacity IWarp layer: Screen; 100% opacity Edge-Detect layer: Overlay; 100% opacity Second Gimpressionist layer (Painted Rock): Screen; 100% opacity Cubism + Dotify layer: Overlay; 100% opacity Motion Blurred layer: Darken Only; 50% opacity Top Pick layer: Normal; 31% opacity It should look like this thus far:
13. Run a Motion Blur on the IWarp layer using the same settings that you used before. Then, move the top Pick layer down once so it is second from the top. Your image should look like this now:
14. Make a new transparent layer, and paste your render in the center. Go to Layer>Layer to Image Size. Then, duplicate that layer once, uncheck the eye to the left of the layer name, and move it all the way to the bottom of the layers. Next, duplicate the original render layer again and go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian on the top of the two render layers. Use these settings:
15. Set that layer to Screen at 50%, and go to Layers>Merge Down. Your render should look like the image below:
16. Duplicate the render layer and select the lower one. Go to Layers>Transparency>Alpha to Selection. Go to Select>Feather and set it to 50 pixels. Now go to Select>Invert. Then go to Edit>Cut. Your lower render layer should look like the image below:
17. Select the top render layer and go to Layers>Transparency>Alpha to Selection. Next, go to Select>Feather and set it to 50 pixels. Go to Select>Invert. Now, go to Filters>Noise>Spread. Adjust your settings to match the ones shown below:
After running the Spread filter, your top render layer should look like this:
18. Your render should still be selected (If it is not, go to Alpha to Selection, Feather at 50, and Invert again). Go to Filters>Blur>Motion Blur, and use the settings that you have used before: Blur Type=Linear, Length=15, Angle=307. Your top render layer should look like this when you are done:
19. Set the top render layer to Hard Light at 100% opacity. Set the lower render layer to Normal at 90% opacity. Your sig should now look like this:
20. Bring the render layer that is all the way at the bottom of your layers to the top and keep the eye unchecked. Go to Layers>Transparency>Alpha to Selection. Now make a new layer filled with transparency underneath all three of your render layers, but on top of your motion blur layer. Next, go to Select>Grow and grow by 1 pixel and fill the selection with black. Now, go back to the render layer that has the eye unchecked and go to Layers>Transparency>Alpha to Selection once again. Go back to the layer with the black outline and go to Edit>Cut. Your sig should now look like this:
21. Make a new layer filled with transparency directly underneath your outline layer. Grab the Ellipse Selection Tool and make a selection like so:
22. Fill the selection with white and tone the opacity down to 20%. Now, go back to the render layer that has the eye unchecked and go to Layers>Transparency>Alpha to Selection once again. Go back to the layer with the gloss (ellipse selection) and go to Edit>Cut. Your sig should now look like so:
23. Make a new layer filled with transparency on top of every other layer. Go to Select>All. To make your border, go to Edit>Stroke Selection. Use these settings:
24. You are done with your sig! Incase anybody has difficulty with this, here is a pick of the layers you should have:
- Spoiler:
Your finished product should look as follows:
