| It's not stating your opinion that's ignorant. It's that me n shades and others all like rap alot, and you're calling it simple. That's not respecting others opinions. |

| NO IM NOT DONE SAYING WHAT I WANT. @ Ein: Retards attempting poetrty. Huh. Get your own opinion and don't repeat what others say ;] And I already posted links to rap songs on the first page. And like mah rap buddy said, you say there is "substantial evidence"? WHERE? Rap has been around OVER twenty years. It was created by the black americans in the Bronx. Do your homework sweetheart. @ YEM: Rappers don't play guitars. Wanna know why? I suppose it might just kind of be related to the fact that they're RAPPERS. Thanks Sk9 for posting those links Rap has obviously won the battle. |

Do me a favor: listen to all those links and THEN say rap isn't real music. Well, the rap you provided with us here is good rap. But this overseen because most rap gets into the mainstream... and that rap absolutely sucks. As long as rap has meaning behind the lyrics other than violence, drugs and sex, then sure, it can be considered good rap. Most rap is based around one or more of those themes though, so that's why the general public, which sees the rap in the MAINSTREAM makes the generalization that rap is bad. Rock is a lot more versatile than rap. It takes effort to play instruments instead of sing along to a backbeat. While like I said, if you can make rap lyrics that are true poetry, go ahead. But if you were able to put those lyrics to melodies and basslines, that takes more talent. My conclusion is... Rock > Good Rap > Mainstream Rap OH AND MIGHT I ADD. You said rap's been around for over 20 years Shady... a little bit of an understatement. It can be dated back to 1970 from the self-titled album by The Last Poets. It is a spoken word album and while it isn't rap itself, it played an influence on some of the first rappers, when the genre started to emerge, being very underground at the time though, in the mid-70s. The first time rap hit mainstream was in the 14-minute song "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang, released as a single in 1979. From there it slowly got more popular, until another break. The album Licensed to Ill by The Beastie Boys from '86 played a big influence and then rappers like 2pac and Biggie Smalls emerged from the 90's. So... it's been around for about 40 years. |

Thanks Sk9 for posting those links Rap has obviously won the battle. Yeah, and rock has been around over 50 years. Playing the guitar takes more skill. Sorry, it does. - MissClyde wrote:

| I agree with you, but Ein, I just hope that you play guitar. Because it would be sad if you have been defending rock without you having experience in playing bass guitar or guitar.

| Rutzy, why is ALL rock, even the bad rock, better than rap?
Ein, I agree with TO, can you play the guitar yourself? And yes, I believe Mike does play the guitar. |

| Oh I play piano. Well electric keyboard. Well I just got it for christmas but I can play good songs already like Lean on me. Sk9 also plays guitar. Sk9 is pro. Oh wait. I'm off topic. Well. Playing guitar isn't that hard at all. You guys may play guitar. But you don't RAP. so how the hell do you know how hard it is? Most people choose guitar over rap because they know they won't be good at it. Writing raps is one thing but actually being able to come through with a good one, without any mistakes is talent. Quit bein ignant (lol) and respect, bitches! I play guitar and rap too! And I say rap is harder! BAYUM! |
